This workshop will explore different facets of US school curriculum. Presenters will not only discuss some of the complexities that occur when engaging with curriculum in the United States education system, but also reflect on the everyday experiences of teachers as they navigate curriculum and school spaces.

Students, teachers and teacher educators are welcome to join our interactive event which will address the following aspects:

  • The context and beginnings of curriculum in the US
  • What is curriculum?
  • The hidden curriculum in US schools
  • Who is responsible for making decisions about curriculum (state, parents, teachers, etc.) in US schools
  • Standardised testing

We are honoured to welcome as experts:

The workshop will be facilitated by Chinyere Harris (Teachers College, Columbia University), who currently holds a Guest Lectureship at Heidelberg School of Education, funded by the DAAD project “Mobility in International Teacher Education”.
