Learning Environment comprises multiple physical and psychosocial aspects and their synergic relations, including the presence and ubiquitous role of digital technologies in learning. The design of modern Learning Environments is often motivated by a desire to create spaces for learning attuned to twenty-first century competencies, such as how to collaborate, to solve problems together and think creatively. Together with the apparent influence of the built school environment, this transition requires rethinking teaching and learning practices and navigating through novel opportunities and challenges.

During the lecture, different aspects of Learning Environments in a formal educational setting are identified and jointly discussed, acknowledging the possible concerns of these alterations on students’ learning practices.

We warmly invite all Heidelberg Teacher Education students, HEI lecturers and school teachers interested in the topic of Learning Environments, and particularly those who are interested in international collaboration and exchange.

The guest lecture is part of our DAAD-funded project “Mobility in International Teacher Education”.
